need help connecting

    i received an older dell laptop that has a cardbus fast ethernet attached port pc card on windows 2000. the computer was connected to internet before i gave it to my daughter and now i cant connect. the status is that its connected at 100 mbps but the activity for sent and received is both zero and ideas i would appreciate it thanks

    How do u connect to internet ? directly ? or through another PC or router ? If you connect directly try to set the TCP/IP and DNS automatically. Otherwise you may need to set the default gateway.

    if everything else if fine but the internet will just not work
    uninstall the tcip in the network card settings
    let it reboot and reinstall
    i am not at a windows 2000 computer and do not know exactly where this would be
