Someday when I right-click a image in a folder. There are two preview menu items on the shortcut menu that appear. I have tried to follow some editing with image mapping in the registry. But there are unlucky to me.

Where should I go with to resolve this. ( delete one of them. )
Any tips or help are very appreciate.

    Thanks,

    Eric,

When I click the both preview menu item commands on the shortcut menu.
The selected picture will be open by the default Windows XP picture and fax viewer.
This double menu items will be displayed with .gif and .jpg, but not .tiff and .bmp.

    Thanks,

    Eric,

Download ShelleXView and look for a duplicate. Disable one or the other and test.
Become a Contributing Member then you can :)

With the tool mentioned above. I have been disabled one of many Windows picture and viewer items successfully and it should be fine now. But, on the list of items in the ShellxView window. I could not found any items that look the same or simliar. Is the item I have been disabled be the right one ? ( marked with yes )

Also, could anyone be able briefly share some basic information about these items, or, is there any article or passages that will detail these items in deeply some elsewhere on the web or the other.

I'am just thinking about that too.
Thanks for sharing this info with me :)

To be honest I have no idea - at least you can experiment safely by disabling/re-enabling.

I'am sorry I need some help again.
Today when I logout the current user and then back again.
The preview function of an image on the shortcut menu became not work as before.
I need re-enable the item that I was disabled before to make it work.

    Thanks,

    Eric,

If there is a way to fix it then I am not aware of it and can find no other reference to that situation on the internet.

My only thought is that the second Preview - the one which is not in bold, was placed there by another program.

I have to say - is this a real problem to you or are you just curious?

First of all, I'am sorry to you for my very bad english.
It seems that some statements should be incorrectly used.
I will do my best to avoid any errors.

    Back to subject.

Actually, it's not causing issue, just an annoyance to see it.

Hmm, do you know where can I find the settings of Preview menu item ?
Both the jpegfile and giffile are checked already but no luck.

    :)
    Thanks,

No apologies necessary :) My native language is English - I speak no other languages :(

To reset the image file associations I suggest you see ......

Repair image file type associations in Windows XP

I would advise making a manual System Restore point before running the program.
