My laptop,IBM 600E,running Windows 2000 is giving me fits!I finally have all new bateries and it is fully charged but the two problems I have now are concerning the Internal Modem and System 32 errors. I was told by IBM that the laptop is too old and they won't help me fix the errors.
Error #1 MWM0001 (Modem Internal Error)
    Primary 5: (0X0005)
    Secondary 105 (0X0069)
    MWMWIN.C
    Line 4426
I can't get on the internet because of this error!
    Error #2
    WINNT\System32|drivers\Prdmgr.exe
    Path?
What can I do to fix these errors? I know it's an old laptop but just yesterday I was actually able to download a PeoplePC disk on it but there was no homepage coming up so I thought I should uninstall it and all this happened!
    HELP!!!!!

    Thinkpad modem problems

    Interesting
This program does not seem to be a part of windows 2000 or the modem program but an add on:

PRDMGR.EXE has been seen to perform the following behavior:

    * The Process is packed and/or encrypted using a software packing process

PRDMGR.EXE has been the subject of the following behavior:

    * Added as a Registry auto start to load Program on Boot up
    * Executed as a Process
    * Created as a process on disk

Stop this program from running on startup of windows

I do not believe that windows 2000 has a simple msconfig type program available to you

Here is a free of charge useful program that does this:

    http://download.cnet.com/Startup-Inspector-for-Windows/3000-2086_4-10291346.html?tag=mncol

remove the program involved with this from startup
at the worst go into safe mode and remove it then

by the way - most modems are not ibms - they are third party
you might want to find an alternate or updated driver if you need to
A hardware diagnostic program like aida32 might / should tell you more

At the worst disable the modem in the control panel
Install a pcmcia modem that you can get a driver for
Interestingly IBM's level of support - even for more current Pentium 3's has sure gone done
It's not your father's IBM or thinkpad they are making now

:(I would love to be able to download ANYTHING off the internet but I keep getting MWME001 modem errors and have to shut down the modem. File MWMWIN.C Line 4426. Modem Internal Error primary code:5 secondary code:105. The modem is/has been working but by another program or something and I am about as defeated as it gets. I have a PC also,is there any way to download something on it and burn a CD to work on the laptop? IBM ThinkPad 600E Model 2645. ThinkPad Modem product version 2.60.35.0. Internal name MWCSW32. I don't know what else to do!!!

I am finding more and more that older computers that ibm used to support - well they do not even provide drivers for now
You may want to reinstall windows 2000
Before you do that - check what drivers are online at the ibm site
if there are collections of drivers on the hard drive save them
You might be able to figure out the setups first
    use belarc and aida32

aida32 is excellent - however not supported now - but is for your computer

    http://www.oldversion.com/AIDA32.html

    mark down everything before reinstalling
    save your data as well
Most of what is in the laptop in terms of hardware- sound and video cards etc is from a third party
Better yet if its an original setup - the blue button on the thinkpad will lead you into a sytem restore setup
It will restore the computer back to the factory setup
Just make real sure that you have saved any data of yours before starting this process - your precious data will be overwritten

    Registry Error?

I have the same laptop in my basement lab. I can take a look at it.
It also has Win 2k on it as well.

Here is a link to a MS Knowledge Base article. It seems to point to a registry error.

"This issue may occur in any of the following situations:

    * You recently installed Windows.
    * You recently updated or changed your modem drivers.
    * You recently installed third-party Internet access software.

Any of these changes may cause your modem to be incorrectly configured. "

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811017

If nothing has changed, then it could be a modem failure or a problem with win 2k. There may be some updates needed if it win 2k.

The drivers for the 600e are here. There is definitely a Windows 2000 modem driver.
