When I get an email from my daughter that includes pictures at her website, all I get is the outline picture frame without a picture. I have loaded Internet Exployer 8 but that did not help. I am not real computer literate but have been told it may be in the settings but I don't know how to correct them. Any help?

Hi 123beach. Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Have you tried downloading the pictures onto your computer and then opening them?

I honestly don't know how to do it since there is nothing but a frame where the pictures should be. I don't know that much about downloading stuff or how to do it.

    Hi 123beach,

What e-mail program are you using? Outlook; Outlook Express, SeaMonkey, Thunderbird; Yahoo; Hotmail; Gmail; or . . .?

I am using Yahoo. I've also tried to look at settings, but have not found anything or if I did I did not understand.

Quick question: Do all pictures from your daughter look "broken" or just some?

They are all blank frames. And everyone else who views them can see them. Dell computers now tells me I have to reload the system because they cannot find a solution to the problem. I don't want to do that.

If I redo the system, I will have to reload all of my files and I'm not even sure I can do that.

My daugthter has a facebook with pictures and I can see them. I can also see pictures she sends me of news stories, etc. It's just with her website.

    Hi 123beach,

I'm a little confused. Is it only pictures she sends you from her website to your e-mail account that you can't view, yet other pictures she sends from some place else come out OK?

Like, you get the text and there's supposed to be a picture under it when she sends it from her website, but it's blank or broken in your e-mail account?

Don't give up yet and definitely do not redo the system. There's just a glitch somewhere we have to track down.

Feel like a little test? Have her save whatever picture she's sent that's broken (in your e-mail) to her Desktop. Then have her compose a new e-mail to you and insert the pic from the Desktop in the compose window.

Any difference? I have a Yahoo account, too, and I'll give it a try. Although I use SeaMonkey's e-mail\composer suite.

Well, I ran my little test: I composed an e-mail in SeaMonkey with text and a picture in the body of the e-mail and sent it to 5 accounts.

Four of the accounts came through perfectly. However, in Yahoo, the first e-mail went into the SPAM folder! So, I sent it again and the e-mail came through as an attachment. And the third time I sent it, just the text was there; no picture and no attachment.

Try setting up a gmail account (it's free) and have your daughter resend one of the "broken" e-mails.

    Any joy?
