USB port problem: System freezes when accessing thumb drive

    I recently purchased a new pc with a P5NSLI mainboard by asus, installation of hardware and software were a success. but when i was about to access my PQI 4GB thumb drive my system freezes icons on my windows xp disappears and cannot access any program. After unplugging my 4GB thumb drive my system unfreezes and will work fine. in addition when i use a 512mb thumb drive my system works ok with out a hitch... i already tried downloading new driver updates for my usb c/o asus.com but still my problem persist. my pqi 4GB thumb drive works fine in my laptop. pls help!!!

    i'm still puzzled and still researching on my problem...

    Hi Evan Omo.

    i tried to disable standard enhanced pci to usb host controller located at the device manager. i was able to access my 4gb thumb drive but now a ballon opened on the system tray saying that it i not connected to a usb2.0 port etc... i think i have a problem with my usb driver. do you have any sudjestion on where i could find a driver for my mainboard "p5nsli ". already tried to download at asus website but still doesnt work....

    Have you tried installing the latest driver for your motherboard chipset? Try downloading the chipset driver from here, Chipset Driver Download.
