    Hello again,
I just followed the steps in the reply above, and my issue with the update of KB956572 is still unresolved. My computer is still showing me that I need to install this update, even though I have installed it twice this morning.
I am going back to turning off my automatic updates and update notification so that it will NOT come back up telling me I need to install it.
This is very frustrating and I think that Microsoft has a problem with this particular update.

    Yeah, me too.
Tell me which flavor of Linus you are running.
I am thinking of doing the same thing.
And maybe you can help me to get it up and running properly.

    Thanks again,
    Bob

    Name

Yeah, you got the name right, but I prefer to go by Bob rather than Robert.
I will look over the info that you have sent me the link to.
It looks like it will answer most of my questions.
    Thanks for the info.

I am waiting on my tax return so I can put together a new quad core computer and I am going to put at least 2 hard drives in it and partition it where I can have multiple operating systems on it.
What is the best program for using as a boot manager that you have found?

    Thanks again,
    Bob

    Hello Bob,

This is Richard, Leonard's son. Here is what I did. I installed the MS windows that dad wanted to use (XP). Then I let Ubuntu install. During the Ubuntu install it asks if you want a Dual Boot and if you say "yes" it automatically makes a boot menu... listing Windows and Ubuntu. So you do not have to partition before installing... Ubuntu does that for you. Also, you do not have to use any boot manager... Ubuntu makes it's own.

My computer is different. I bought a Kingswin or Kingswing ... not sure being at Dad place.... but it is a hard drive transfer case and holder. I purchased the set, 1 holder and 1 case, and then an extra case.

The brandname is Kingwin...Kingwin SATA KF-811 Black Aluminum SATA Mobile Rack Tray with Shock Absorbers (Tray Only) Model: KF-811-T-BK and ... Kingwin SATA KF-811 Black Aluminum SATA Mobile Rack with Shock Absorbers Model: KF-811-BK.

I then installed XP on one drive and put into one case and then Ubuntu in the other case. I can then transfer the harddrives (when the computer is off) and thus have either a XP system or an Ubuntu system.

btw... since I have had the choice between the two.... by sliding the drives in and out when off.... I have almost remained in Ubuntu all the time.... very few things do not run well there.

    Richard
