Some of my settings have a tendency of changing such as :

    - Ruler disappears
    - Dimensions set in millimeters become points
    - My blank document is set up with Century Gothic 10. I would like to keep the same font for the header and footer. This seems impossible to set !

How can I prevent that they remain as set ?

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Personal settings are stored in the Normal template file - your's may be corrupted.

Search your drive for Normal.dot - include hidden files and folders and, with Word closed, delete it (alternatively rename it so that it can be restored later if necessary). It will be recreated when Windows is next opened.

Note that any personal settings will be lost and will need to be setup again.

I tried to follow your instructions, but unfortunately, while I can adjust the typeface for the main body, I am totally unable to change the settings for the header and footer which remain with the original typeface... I am giving up !
