I belong to a volunteer group that is in need of a FREE simple inventory program that will print an inventory list. I have reviewed several freeware inventory programs and they are either to detailed or will not print an inventory list by category. This program will be kept on the group's computer and I am not sure if the computer has a spreadsheet or database program installed. At this point I don't know what the inventory will consist of. Should anyone know of such a FREE inventory program I would appreciate the name and adress of where I can download it. As always, all replies will be appreciated and I will thank you in advance.

Have you tried the Insurance Information Instutute Home Inventory program? It's a free download after you register and it works pretty good allowing you to add pictures of each item in the inventory. It has several print options.

I couldn't find a FREE inventory program that would work for the volunteer group I am a member of so I ended up using the Access program to develop a very simple one. My question is "inventory.mdb" the file I created does not show an attribute on my C:\ drive but, when I copy the file to a CD the attribute shows "Read Only ". If I take the CD to the group and copy it to the C:\ drive of their computer will the program work as intended or will it continue to show an attribute of "Read Only" and not work as intended? It will be several days before I can take the CD to the group and install the file to their C:\ and test it. This may be a silly question but it has me baffled. If anyone knows for sure I would appreciate being told. As always I will thank you in advance.

once you move the *.mdb to the host computer just right click it, select properties then uncheck the read only box.
