    Good day to all.

I am having fits trying to setup MS Windows XP Home on a computer. It has a new hard drive. I keep getting "Stop: 0x00000050" or others. It is a new inatall. I have tried countless times. One even got to "Finializing Installation" or whatever the last part is.
If any one can help, It will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Marc

PS. I am using a computer at the local library untill I can get online at home. I will check back here on 28 April. Thanks in advance.

Hi marcarnoldolson and welcome to WindowsBBS :D

It's a bit early to say but the error you quoted points toward either memory or hard drive. Have you tried swapping memory sticks etc?

    EDIT:
    Doh...

Perhaps looking at the hard drive first would be more appropriate :)

Have a look here at PeteC's post for links to the relevant diagnostic tools.

Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks, Whiskyman. It sounds like the RAM might be the culprit. I have tried 2 different hard drives. I will let you know what happens. Thanks again, Marc.
