Yesterday my computer froze up while I was surfing the internet so I restarted it. When it got the the logon screen, I typed in my password and it brought up the welcome screen and then I got an "Access is denied" error, and the computer restarted itself. I tried starting it in safe mode, but it couldn't make it because the computer just kept restarting itself before I could even get to a logon screen in safe mode. Occasionally it will also give me the error: "The Group Policy Client service failed the logon." along with the "Access is denied" error.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?

Hi Toadie. Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

I assume you only have one user account on your computer? Try this, when the computer starts press F8 on boot up and from the available options select Last Known Good Configuration and press enter. See if there's any change. Do you have a Windows Vista DVD? If you do then try running Startup Repair.

    I've tried safe mode :/

The problem is that the computer won't stay on long enough for that to work. I would assume there's a hardware problem... Is there anything I could try to keep it on?

Try pressing F8 on startup and selecting disable reboot on system failure. Instead of your computer rebooting it should show a blue screen of death with an error message (BSOD). If you get a BSOD let me know what the error message is. Also can you let me know if you have a Vista DVD and if you tried Startup Repair?

Since you do have a Vista DVD go ahead and try it. Let me know if startup repair fixed your issue or not.
