I am using Windows xp home on a computer I built. I installed a Seagate 500Gig SATA hard drive, booted from the Windows install disk and loaded windows xp, and it is working fine. I installed a second Seagate 500gig SATA hard drive. This second drive can be seen on set-up but does not show on windows. I have Acronis Disk Director and it does not recognize either drive. Can somebody help me?

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)
By which you mean the BIOS?

Go Start > Run > type in diskmgmt.msc > Enter

Does the drive show in Disk Management - if so is it shown as unallocated space? In this case it requires the creation of a partition or partitions and a format. Right click in the unallocated space for options.

If the drive shows as a single partition has a drive letter been assigned? - if not assign one through the right click menu.

Thanks, Pete. I got into disk management and the disk is shown there, however, when I right click I don't have an option to partition or anything else. I can just click on Properties or Help. The drive has the notation "Not Initialized" Any suggestions?

You should be able to initialize the drive. Right-click the drive in diskmgmt & Initialize should be an option.
