I am not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, so please accept my apologies in advance if I should have placed it in a different category...

My question pertains to Windows XP Pro SP2 installation of drivers for my Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller (firewire card).

When I originally installed the card in the old XP Home SP2 system, it was automatically installed with drivers contained in the OS, there was no separate cd with drivers provided with the card.

I moved the card over to a new XP Pro SP2 system, and upon booting, the OS asks to be directed to a disc or folder with the appropriate driver.

A web search led to identification of a file called GIC 220U-ALi-33s-1-4-7.zip which extracted to EHCI_147.exe, but when I run it, it asks "Windows XP SP1 has USB 2.0 controller inbox driver. Do you want to install ALi usb 2.0 controller driver?"

I have absolutely no idea what the implications might be if I run that.

If anyone can provide some guidance, it would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

    Peter

First off, thanks for reading my post and offering some help.

Is there a chance that's a dead link? It leads to a download page, but if one clicks on download, it goes to an information page from TI, and I don't see the actual drivers listed...hope I am not losing my vision...

Yup, it appears the driver is not made available anymore at Tex Inst site.
Who is the manufacturer (brand name) of the firewire card? It's unlikely Tex Inst made the card, they make the chipsets used on card and drivers can usually be found at the manufacturer's site.
