I used MyColors from StarDock yesterday and it updated. It said I had to restart my computer(Or just the program, I'm not sure). But before I restarted, I applied a theme.

After I restarted mt PC, I took off the theme because it was one of those free ones and we all know how crappy free things are unless it's Linux. Now the icons from it are still there on my Desktop, and the ones for Windows Explorer look like this.

My Control Panel is also slightly broken. It says that the personalization section is unable to load. It doesn't give an error.

I got MyColors uninstalled, though. But that didn't change the icons back. And there were a few files left after the uninstall, but I can't remove them because I need permission even though I had already gotten permission from the UAC.......

I'm just about to give up on these new operating systems and go back to DOS.

EDIT: Gah, evil censors. Now it looks totally NOT what I wanted it to look D:
    (fixed by site staff;) )

CP is fixed as far as I can tell. Same with Start menu, Desktop, and objectdock icons. But the icons in WE are still messed up.

A system restore could fix it, but I don't want to do anything that drastic yet.

    Follow these steps:

    • Open a command prompt (type cmd in the Start Search box & press [Enter]), type cd %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local
    • Unhide the IconCache.db file with the following command: attrib -h IconCache.db
    • Delete the IconCache.db file with this command: del IconCache.db
    • Restart Windows.

That did not work. Maybe I should try making a new account and stealing the file from there?

You should try installing and uninstalling MyColors again. When you install it, check that the theme and everything associated with it are uninstalled/removed, then do the uninstall of MyColors again.

Check at the Stardock website for troubleshooting information.
