Office Word 2007 corrupt files

    Hi,
    Windows XP, Office 2003. (*.docx files).
    On 2 occasions a file has become corrupt (since January 2009).
    This has never happened to me before.
    My anti-malware is up to date and found nothing. I have not downloaded anything in office format, etc.
    The files were both made on the same PC on which they became corrupt (i.e. were not made on another PC)
    Any advice would be helpful

    docx files Are usually created with Word 2007.....

    Might want to look into turning on the auto backup option;)

    I have been backing up the files I just want to know why this is occurring.

    Hi,
    I thought I had replied to your message but had not....
    You were correct about the drive being unhealthy.

    Last week the drive gave S.M.A.R.T. errors stating disc was likely to fail shortly ... So that was most likely the cause of the corrupt files, and I thought you would be interested...
