    Hello,

I'm having problems downloading files from two computers at work.

One has IE 5.0 on Windows 2000 SP3 and the other is IE5.5 SP2 on Windows 2000 SP1.

I can access any web page fine, but when I click on a link to download a file, instead of getting the download file dialog box, I just get a blank page with a small square icon in the top left corner.

Does anyone know what could cause this?

    Thanks for any help.

    Regards,
    Daryl.

    I haven't tried a .pdf.

I've tried to download a driver from the Dell site and MSN Messenger from Microsoft. Both downloads are fine from other computers.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
    Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

    and, if so, what?

Export that key (so that you can restore if necessary) and then delete it. Reboot and see what happens.

    downloading problems

Hi, saw the response to the download on the two machines listed....what about running IE 6.0 with the sp1? Can't download anything using IE and the cable broadband on an XP machine. Can download using a dialup? Any suggestions...have deleted temp files, etc....run scandisk/defrag. Any ideas? Got the adware link...will try that......anything else?
