Ever since I started using IE7, I have been trying to find a method to change the default file extension (.mtf) IE7 uses when saving the current browser window to a file; I prefer to use the older browser defaults (.htm / .html).

So far I have not found a solution. Maybe IE8 will or has a solution, but I am not ready to test it yet because of the XP SP3 issues.

    I would enjoy any help.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

I'd guess it's doubtfull you'll ever see an option to change this settting...The box that comes up is a standard "Windows" save as type box.

IE8 doesn't have an option either.

Just use the "Save as type: Webpage, HTML only (*.htm;*.html)" Else you'd have to change the system settings & "disassociate" .MTF with IE.
