I'm new around here,so I decided to write here before coming to the final solution of formatting,I rarely turn off my desktop then I had to travel so I did turn it off, came a day later and when I turn it on,it goes fine to the log on screen and starts loading my apps and shows the wallpaper and icons, then it shuts down and reboot again.

I thought it might be a problem with Nod32 so I installed a parallel copy of WinXP and it loaded fine,so I did a Virus scan using another Nod32 and AVG and both showed me zero threats,so what can I do now ? I don't want to resort to formatting as I will lose all my installed apps and drivers.

    Thanks in advance

Some BIOS have a Select Boot Device Menu using F8 before Windows begins to start. The trick is to select the correct boot device then start to tap F8 again.

Alternatively noahdfear wrote safebootcreator a while back which adds safe mode as an option everytime you start your system.

Only other thing I can think of is your keyboard isn't kicking in until windows starts, if so a BIOS setting "Legacy USB" should fix that.

EDIT: You've implied you get a menu in your previous post so ignore the red text above.

There are 11 pages to follow. If it doesn't boot to safe mode, there's lots of other stuff to do.

If you can now boot into Safe mode, you can continue with the suggestions in the article I linked above.

I'd try a Windows XP Repair install, hopefully you have your XP installation disk.

Boot from the WinXP CD (you may have to change a setting in your BIOS that allows you to boot from the CD). Do not choose the option to repair an XP installation using Recovery Console when prompted, choose the option to To set up Windows XP now press ENTER.

After more files have been copied, you'll get another selection screen where you should select the current XP installation, & the option To Repair the selected Windows XP installation, press R.

I have found the culprit,it was the ASUS Six Engine EPU, as soon as I disabled it,reboot went fine. Now I need to Uninstall the other windows .

Thanks a lot Arie for taking the time to help me out.
