    Hi,
I seem to be scratching my head about AVG 7.5 and need someone who knows for sure if:

    (1) AVG 7.5 still available or has it been phased out for sure?
    (2) I also can't recall which one prior to the 8.0 that was no longer
    making updates available ?

The reason I am asking is because I have a friend who still has the free version of AVG 7.5 and at work they use the paid version of 7.5...

Have been an AVG (free) user for years on 3x of our networked desktops. When many where having difficulty with AVG 8, I moved my computer to Avast (free) 6 months ago. Has been a trouble free change. Sometime in March, my wife mentioned she was no longer getting virus definition updates (AVG 7.5) and screen said had to update to latest version. I chose to install Avast on remaining two desktops and a 4th computer, my netbook. Avast requires registration (free/no cost) within 60 days on installing.

    Hi,
I have been using Avast too on all my computers and have been very pleased with it but a close friend of mine still uses AVG 7.5 and has no problems. Some where I thought I read that AVG 7.5 was being phased out but I also thought I read as well that there was multiple problems with AVG 8.0 (which I can only assume have been corrected by now). This is what I'm trying to confirm.

At this time all I can confirm is AVG 7.5 Free was no longer eligible to receive virus updates at my location. This was stated by a break screen (during cold boot) on both computers running AVG 7.5 Free. The program is\was functional and break screen did NOT say program was disabled. Unfortunately, security programs not receiving timely updates are not an effective tool.

I'm currently using AVG 8.5.287 free on a Win XP Home SP3 system without any problems, it's a recent install though and not fully tested.

    Hi,
Okay...For some reason my mind couldn't remember all that I inquired about and I thank everyone for their assistance...I think I'll scope out the AVG forum and see what's up there...
