Just before I installed the WIndowsXP service pack 1, I had downloaded from the Windows Update site an upgrade to the "Help and SUpport" in WIndowXp , but did NOT reboot right away.
Then I installed the Service Pack 1 for Windows XP Home and after I had rebooted , I found that I could NOT access the "Help and Support" anymore.
I went to my Dell CD and reinstalled it but it still does NOT come on when I clik on it .
Is there any way, short of formatting my whole computer , to get it to work again? Dell is telling me that I have to reformat the computer to get it back and I dont want to do that again..Have had 2 bad experiences when they helped me to do that twice already and I have only had this computer since June of this year!!
Thanks for any help you can give me
    Linda:confused:

If you are using a registry cleaner, stop using it. These things are unneeded and cause more harm than good.

Download and run this script to get your Help back:

It's just an ordinary download. Try right-clicking the link and "Save Target As... ".
When the dialog asks where to save it, choose your desktop.
Then just click on it to run it.

    That's great, Linda!

I've rarely had very good luck with tech support, though I've had excellent experiences with them, too.
Sometimes, I would certainly prefer an honest "I don't know" from them, rather than an answer they made up just for the sake of an answer.

    Glad it worked.

Well, that script only replaces the reg keys that are mentioned in the MS KB articles, but the easy way.

Hope you find it useful. Though Linda didn't use a reg cleaner, that is the usual cause of this problem.
