I would be thankful for some help with this. I have Java set for automatic update and when the computer tried to update a couple of days ago, it ran into some trouble. It said it could not continue because the old file bin\awt.ddl could not be found and it gave an error code 1722. Any help on this will be great.
    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried uninstalling Java and downloading it again from the Java site? If it was me, I would give that a try.

First of all, thanks for the reply.
No! I have not tried that as yet. Reason is I felt if I deleted what I have on Java, it could create a problem with the internet browser. If I am wrong let me know, then I would be happy to try it.

    You are wrong :D

When you first install a clean OS, you won't have Java either, and the web browser will work just fine without it. If you get to a site that requires Java to function, it'll prompt you to install it.

Ok, I did get it going. I deleted everything concerning java, some of the java file were difficult to delete, had to reboot in safe mode to delete a couple of java directories. After doing that, I still could not install from the Sun Java website. So, I downloaded java to my partitioned drive and installed it from there and it worked fine.
So big thanks to you guys on this great forum.:D

Thanks for the update. Great to hear that you got it installed and we're glad to help. Java does have a cleanup utility that might help if you want to install Java on your main partition. You can find that here. It is suppose to help when Add/Remove doesn't uninstall everything.
