    Hi,

Recently I had a program running and kept getting Graphical problems (eg Streaky screen/weird colours etc) that resulted in a blue screen.

I just thought that it could be something to do with the program, so I was going to reinstall it.

Well here's where my problem comes in, after it crashed for the 3rd time. When I now turn on my comp I have corrupt graphics all through the boot screen. When it gets to the Windows loading screen, 90% of the time it crashes, and when not in safe mode it also randomly crashes now. I can start it in safe mode fine.

I have tried a system restore and reinstalling the graphics driver so far.

    Summary of problem :

    Corrupt Screen on boot
Crash 90% of the time on load screen
    Graphics messed up when running
Random crashing when not in safe mode(If I can get it that far)
    Can run in safe mode

I am thinking the Graphics Card needs replacing, but in-case that isn't the problem, I wanted to ask.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Boot to Safe Mode > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs and uninstall the problematic program that may have caused all this. Then go to Device manager and uninstall the Display Adapter. Then, while still in Device manager, click Action > Scan for hardware Change.

If that doesn't work, post back what happened and any error messages you got.

A new card may fix your problem but it would be good to make sure you actually need to go to that extreme.

surferdude2, I wanna add one other thing (just in case). I run my own boot screens in my computers. If mods the I make to ntoskrnl.exe are not 100% correct windows will crash. (I know from experience)

Ranger, I've done some of that myself and know what you mean. Reverse compiling the kernel is walking on thin ice for sure. ;) Best to do it on a "test dummy" dual boot system or else have a current backup image to deploy.

Corrupt screen in BIOS means a hardware problem. Windows is not even in the picture.

Suggest that you try swapping the video card & test the memory.

I would just like to say, thanks for the help.

And for anyone else with this problem, it was the graphics card and was fixed by replacing it.

Just thought I would throw that out there.
