    Greetings!
I am using WinMe with IE6. It is Not a network PC. I can receive e-mails ok, but
when i try to send any, I get the following pop up message....
The server does not support a SSL connection. Account: 'pop.ISPname.com', Server: 'smtp.ISPname.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 HELP', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D
I have tried goining to Tools >> Internet options... then another message pops up that says
This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.
Any ideas? How do I remove these restrictions? as I feel an inevitable Format is looming!:(

If using Outlook Express for email. You need to go into Outlook Express then Tools\Accounts. When the Internet Accounts window opens, select the mail tab, then select your ISP email account then click on Properties. Another window will open up titled YourISP Properties, click on Advanced tab, under Outgoing SMTP uncheck the box for This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
This other issue with Internet Options, can you do anything with the Control Panel?

Any tweaking programs in use? Many of them allow restrictions to Internet Options.

What happens when you go to Start--> Run and type:
    inetcpl.cpl
    ?

    Thanks for your responses guys!
I have read through them and found success with one part of the problem.
markp62 I followed your suggestion and found that I had to uncheck that particular box in the ISP properties.
    Control panel works ok
Abraxas that command works o.k however, if I've got explorer open and go to the Tools menu at the top of the page the select Internet optins from there then I get the
" operation cancelled due to restrictions........" pop up message
