NTFS files and folders have scores of security groups(everybody, interactive, batch, creative group, creative owners,...etc ). Is there some document that explains how those groups work, in win2k pro(which is not win2k server )?:(

    Local groups? Global groups? Other?

Take a look at Q243330 for a quick run-down on all the standard or "well known" groups and a tiny bit about what they are usually for.

    re: group

The link's page is badly scrambled but I still could see that it isn't the answer. What I want to know is what are the properties and funcions of different groups such as everybody, INTERACTIVE, batch ....

Note that those are the groups you will see when you click on the security tap of a file/folder in a NTFS drive. NOT THE STANDARD GROUP OF WINDOWS 2000.
But they are still important groups.
    :p

From the M$ article cited above (which look fine from here)

    SID: S-1-5-3
    Name: Batch
Description: A group that includes all users that have logged on through a batch queue facility. Membership is controlled by the operating system.

    SID: S-1-5-4
    Name: Interactive
Description: A group that includes all users that have logged on interactively. Membership is controlled by the operating system.

    SID: S-1-1-0
    Name: Everyone
Description: A group that includes all users, even anonymous users and guests. Membership is controlled by the operating system.

to deal with their brief description of the 3 you mentioned.

As far as what rights any of these groups have to a particular file/folder, that will depend on the way your system is set up. Details on the security section will tell you exactly what access a given group has to a particular folder.

If I'm still missing your point, please expand a little on exactly what you want to know.
