Geri, Hi again, well I posted this issue on the Vista Forum and it appears you are the only individual brave enough to tackle the problem as I had one person sort of respond but never again! The system almost sound like the sound will start in following your instructions. I went to Intel's site and they have this audio helper now? |However, it is not a lot of help. Given that I have contacted them several time over the last 19 months without a reply it is of further concern that they don't know the answer. I noticed however that when the RealTek Sound Manager starts the plug on the rear of the machine seems to have the Pink and the Blue plugs switched for some reason. By switched I mean I plug something into the Pink and the blue recognized a device when I unplug the device the Pink will revert to the recognition of something being plugged into it? The pink plug when plugged with the microphone will default to the blue recognition of a device? Screwy or is it me with a haunted machine?

PS I have also discovered by running the Dr. Web on this machine that it had several backdoor worms that suddenly appeared. It also had some backdoor Trojans and some other backdoor generics? This system is running the scan currently so when it finishes I will forward to you for review as you are the only brave one to venture into this dark side! lmao

    Thanks for the assist Geri!

CountVak, please restart the computer and enter Setup (BIOS), then check the BIOS version and let me know what it is. On the main menu, the 4-digit number after the '86A' or "˜86I’ is the current BIOS version, as in this example:
    MQ96510H.86A.1663.2007.0319.1957

Does your computer have both front (headphone) and rear audio input/output? If so, please see if the audio works when connected to the front output jack.
