On the back of your computer, look to see if there is an area that has what looks like a larger version of a phone jack plug (for dial-up connections).

Here's a link to a picture of what and Ethernet jack looks like.

    Hope this helps:

Look in Device Manager for a Network card.

    Hi Dragonfly,
How does your computer currently connect to the Internet, if it is via Broadband then you will have an ethernet connection, and as a lot of people here and otherwhere will tell you "google is your friend! "

    Regards Jac

    PS: Welcome to BBS

PPS: Also have a look for your system specifications either from where you bought your computer or from the manufacturer

Not neccesarily, it's possible to connect to many broadband modems via USB, device manager should confirm if an ethernet card exists and drivers installed.

    Point taken

Sorry for the slip, yes it can be connected via USB, I should have added that if they are connected to a broadband modem via a plug similar to a phone plug then they more than likely will have an Ethernet device in their computer, which should show up in their device manager
    Regards Jac
