I am running win98 SE, and Outlook as part of Microsoft Office 2000 Small Business OEM version. I'm considering switching to Sun Micro Star Office Suite. I've played with it some, and it seems pretty good. Can anyone recomend an email that would be compatable with Microstar? What else am I overlooking ? I've been using Word and outlook or outlook express since day one, and I'm heading into unknown territory here.

    Hi fridgitator
I jsut noticed that you didn't get a reply to this post. Have you got this one solved yet? There are a myriad of email clients out there. Perhaps bumping this one back up will get you some help from others that have tried Star office?

Hi daizy. Thank you for your response. I almost forgot having posted the question. I've been experimenting with various free versions of email clients. There are alot more available than I ever imagined. Also alot more office suites. Looks like I'll be experimenting for some time.

    Well that's good news!
What are your opinions on Star office? What other office suites have you experimented with?

Hi Daizy. Star seems to be pretty good, but I admit that I find navigating it a bit clumsy. I'm sure that's because I'm so used to the microsoft way of things since that's what I know. I never really gave much thought to widening my horizons untill recently, when security problems gave me the inspiration to explore new territory. I'm going to be adding a linux partition to my main machine tomorrow. No telling where all this will lead.....

    Hi again fridgitator
Thanks for the update. Always good to hear first hand about different software. I'm a huge user of MS Office.....always nice to have an alternative.

Hey again, Daizy. I've always been an office fan too, and I really like outlook, but I send and receive alot of email, and lately I've been subjected to numerous infected emails and attacks on my system. so far my firewall and antivirus software have been up to the task, but in the long run it makes more sense to remove myself as a target than to try to stay ahead of the bad guys. I figure if nothing else I will learn about partitioning and linux. neither of which I have ever played with.
