I took my explorer out n now I cant get into my desktop

    i took my explorer out my xp, after i restarted i get into the Welcome screen where u can see the Account user name, every time i click there to go into my desktop, it goes but 2 seconds later comes back to the same screen. somebody can help me, please??? i tried the crtl+alt+delete but it just open the Log on to windows... :(

    Please explain exactly what you did - are you referring to Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer?

    i went to add or remove components of windows, and i took the explorer out, later on when the computer was restarted i got stock in the welcome screen, i see my user name, i click there to get into my desktop n it doesnt let me, it seems like it goes, but it goes right back to the welcome screen.

    now, it got worse, now it doesnt even go to welcome screen, it gives me this message:

    reboot and select proper boot device
    or insert boot media in selected boot device and press key

    Actually all that does is remove Internet Explorer from the Start Menu and Desktop.

    This is where matters get complicated ....

    If you have a full XP install CD you should boot to the Recovery Console and execute the chkdsk /r command

    It looks like you have a hard drive problem.
