Windows XP setup:" Please go to the control panel to install and configure system components." I don't have a clue what this is all about. Another question I exchanged computers lately and all the folders in documents and settings are titled with a month and year. I can't correct this with the right name of the folder My husband had the computer before me and he doesn't knpw how this happened. Can someone give me some advice? Thank you for your help/

With this little information, we won't have many clues either :(

So... what's the program you downloaded?

Well, 1st of all you'd need software capable of opening .rar files. The error you get is telling you that there is no association for RAR files, so Windows doesn't know what program to use to open the RAR file.

I downloaded that file, but see that the .rar is encrypted and requires a password to open so I can't go any further. At this point I would suspect file corruption and suggest a second download is in order.

BTW - You should not pose two unrelated problems in a single thread - start a new thread with this .....

    Follow up .....
Search your hard drive - include hidden files and folders - for autorun.inf in the root of C:\. If present rename to say autorun.old and try the installation again.

Either use the Windows Explorer Search facility with search hidden files & folders enabled or go to Tools > Options > View and check 'Show hidden files & folders' and look in C:\ drive - amongst the few files below the list of directories.

I hope I did it correctly but I am not sure, I find easier to go through Run but can't remember what to type in. I got the same error message. Here are some instructions Go into 150 Gamehouse Games CD1 folder.
Double click Setup icon. It will install.
It will install CD1 and the ask you to insert CD2.
Just click BROWSE and guide it the the 150 Gamehouse Games CD2 folder I am not using CDS, I am clicking on the Gamehouse icon to install and this is when the message apears. We are not going to spend a lot of time on this, we'll just forget it,

As the files on Rapid Share are uploaded by anyone I would not necessarily trust them to be 'perfect' :)

as PeteC menthioned the file might be bogus, but lets see what you have.

could you post a screenshot of the content of your archive? (or list the files types)

i suspect there are CD images (*.iso, *.bin, *.img, and so on) if that is the case you will need a virtual drive http://www.daemon-tools.cc/ is what i use. (although i believe Winrar can extract those as if they were archives)

Thanks Braindead for your response. I don't know how to do a screenshot, I did try to copy and paste the contents of the archeive but it would not copy. I also tested the applicattion for error but none were found. If you can give me more guidance, I'll be glad to send you what you need to help me out.

Use the 30 day trial of Fastone Capture - I can't find a download of the old freeware version.

If you are not a Contributing Member you will be unable to post attachments - the workaround is to post on a photo hosting site such as Photobucket and post the URL here.

I hate give different advice than staff but as far as screen shot goes perhaps the print screen button would do. just open the archive (if you didn't extract it already).

in short just have the content of the archive apparent on the screen, then press the print screen button (one of the 6 buttons right above the num pad).

then open paint and do ctrl + V.

save the file as jpg instead of the default bmp, then you will need to upload it to an image host (i will not name any as i am not sure if there is an allowed or forbidden list)

once you upload the image you will be provided with a link that is what you should post in the reply.

Print Screen is fine, but captures the whole screen - other software has the ability to capture, amongst other things - the active window.

I cannot do this. I downloaded the trail version of FastStone and am having no luck. I'm sure this is very simple to you but I don't have as much grey matter as I once did. I enjoy the challenge but not my ignorance. You can guide me through this if you want to take the time.
Pete, my other thread on the folders all named with months and years, I got 1 response and I didn't explain myself very well and I haven't another one. This same thing happened with connecting to the printer, I gave up on that one. I don't know how to improve my communication and I think my threads get dropped for that reason.
Thanks guys for any help that you give me,

    Dee
