Has anyone tried IE8 yet? How does it compare to FF3+?
Is it better than IE7, i.e., is it worth getting?
Will it work with XP Home SP2 or do you need SP3?

I installed IE8 on my Vista Ultimate SP1 system and my dads Windows XP SP3 system with no problems so far. I think its worth trying out and seeing if you like it or not. The only complaint I have about it is that it seems to take twice as long to start IE8 then IE7 took. It takes about 30 seconds from the time I cliked the IE icon to the time it finally pops up on the screen. :( But once it starts then theres no problem.

Other than that it works fine and I like some of the new features in it.

I just downloaded too. So far no major problems (knocks wood). I think the new features are great.

The only problem I am having with it is for some reason, the read email button doesn't seem to be working.

I had no problem with the email button in IE7. Anyone else having this problem?

For me the download took 26 seconds and the installation took 12 minutes. The Read Mail button works OK here. I use SeaMonkey as my default browser and e-mail client, so I probably won't use many of the new IE features and didn't install the Accelerators. Even so, the program does take noticeably longer to open for some reason.

Same here. (but use TB for email). Anyway, I believe thye loading time is delayed because MS likely removed previous code from IE that would load into memory at system boot. It takes IE about the same amount of time to load as FF for me now. MS has designed IE8 so that it can be "removed" by the user in Windows 7 when its released. It won't be uninstalled completely, as Windows will still depend on certain IE code, but the user will be able to "get rid of IE" as a choice, per recent EU court cases involving MS.
