    Hi, using the same Keyboard PS2 on XP, Vista, and now testing Windows 7
    typing the Quotation mark " in Windows 7 will give me @ and at will type the Quotation Mark. This happens only in Windows 7 even Win98 is typing correctly.
    Is this a Windows 7 Gremlin or some other mystery.
    Region is set to Australia and English American Keyboard setting.
    Any Ideas :confused::confused:

    Are Vista and XP set this way? For grins, set it to USA and see what happens.

    Hi, I have now tried with a different keyboard set all to English- no change reset all to US no change.
    So I would think that it is just one of those errors that can happen during the install of the OS.
    Generally speaking though, I don't know what all the fuss is about Windows 7, so far I haven't come across any features that I could crow about. My Vista Ultimate boots up quicker than 7 Ultimate and up to now I have not found the location where I can increase the Monitor Refreshrate as Win 7 will not look at my ATI video drivers and the Windows 7 drivers don't seem to be giving me the option.
    As for spending money to update from Vista Ultimate to 7 I can't see myself doing that in a hurry.
    My 2 Aussi cents worth. :D:D

    Well, it is a keyboard layout problem, but I've never tried picking the wrong layout during install & then trying to recover from that :)

    Thanks Arie, I am finding now that more characters are reversed and worst of all I can not find a way to get a backward slash.
    I am wondering now if I will be able to do a repair install like I would be able to in XP.

    I have installed W7 on heaps of different desktops and notebooks without any problems. I try to use the driver setup disks (XP or Vista 32bit) that came with the computers first and find very little required to download. Never had a keyboard problem. You only need to change the local time and country, in my case New Zealand. Keyboard is set to English (New Zealand) US.
    So I'm not sure where you have gone wrong Hawk22. Go to Control Panel > Region and Language and check your options. Maybe you changed the US part to the heaps of options that you can choose when you click the box.

    Hi Peejay74, thanks for the reply, but no I have been back into the Language & Region Setting many times, but all seems OK there, I have never had this problem before.
    As you seem to be well in tune with Windows 7 do you know if I can do a Repair install, as this would require me to reset Region & Language during the Install.
