I have been having a few problems with ie7, I was advised to go internet explorer add ons and turn them off from the program menu. Problem not solved. I thought I could just as easily turn them back on from the program menu. Now after looking at manage add ons I do not know what ones I actually disabled.

I want to put them back to where they were. I tried a restore point but I see it will not bring back the add on settings as they were.

I looked at Name, Publisher, Status , Type, File. In the Manage add on menu Trying to see if I could find a date when a add on was change. No luck.

Is this a big deal, I see all are not disabled. Will I be prompt when I do need to turn these add ons back on again

    XP SP-3

Maybe you were slightly ill-advised - the standard procedure to determine if an add on is causing is to start IE with no add ons, either via right click on IE desktop icon > Start without add ons or Start > Programs > Accessories > System tools > IE no add ons. Then if the problem is resolved to go in IE to Tools > Manage add-ons and disable the lot. Re-enable one by one, testing each time until the culprit is found.

In your case in IE go to Tools > Manage Add ons

By default the Manage Add-ons window opens with the dropdown set to 'Add-ons currently loaded in Internet Explorer'.

At the head of the list is Disabled - highlight a disabled add-on and in the settings box click on enable.
More than likely if the add-on is essential to the page you are viewing or you may get prompted to install.

Thanks Pete, I did disable from the program menu.
'Add-ons currently loaded in internet explorer: all disabled.

Add on that have been used by ie: some are abled some are disabled.

Add ons the run without requiring permission: all are enabled.

    Downloaded active controls: All enabled.

Seems that I have just disabled the 'Add-ons currently loaded in internet explorer, the default you mentioned.
