I'm new to this forum and am looking for help. I have a laptop with Windows XP. I recently did a PC recovery and when it was starting back up it asked for a user name. I wrote in the box "none ". Well, apparently that was the wrong answer because it will not let me log on at all. There is no user box to log onto at all. I am at a complete loss, any help would be apprieciated, thanks!

    Welcome to WIndowsBBS;)

Is it asking you for a user name or a password?
If it's a password - try not putting in anything.

Yes, I tried hitting alt+ctrl+delete and I get a prompt for the user name and password and have tried with the spaces blank with no luck. After i hit ctrl+alt+delete the log in screen pops up with the word -Owner- in the username box and it wants some type of password, which I have no clue what it wants. Thanks for any help

Hi Scout. In the log on prompt under username try typing administrator and where it says password leave it blank and press enter. Can you log into Windows now?

Ok. I tried to enter adminstrator in the username and left the password blank. The reply was "Unable to log you on because of an account restriction ". Wow, this computer is about to meet the business end of a Remington 12 gauge. Thanks for the help so far, keep any helpful suggestions coming! Scout

Another Recovery install would solve the problem. :D
