Although my Vista Ultimate is performing OK with, at this moment, only 5% CPU and 55% memory, Task Manager reports 413 processes. The vast majority of these are taskeng.exe from the Task Scheduler Engine and each uses zero CPU.

    Any explanation?
    Thanks.

Found other posts on this subject. Seems like a common problem.
Anyway, one post told me to open Task Scheduler, Look in the Task Library Hidden tasks and find a user synchronization entry whose History showed a huge number of frequent incidences, typically with errors. I found such an entry for a task originated by my account, disabled the task and that cleared up the problem.
