Is your C: drive the quantum?

Please go back to SIW and list all the storage devices for me.

Unfortunately it appears that seatools does not support your quantum drive :(

You could try DFT from Hitatchi, although a Hitachi product the documentation does indicate that other drives can be tested.

Back up any data you need from M & N before using DFT.

    Good luck

sp I guess there's no way to really backup the data on it?

    You mean you haven't already?

There are various Data Recovery tools/services out their but they can be expensive. It's still worth trying DFT on the drive you may be lucky. If you do get the drive to a readable state though I'd grab the data then think carefully if you could trust the drive again.

When I got home I restarted my computer and was able to access the slave drive, I transferred the files to my C drives and plan on getting an external hard drive tommorow.

    2 questions:

    1) Should I disable that slave drive? I'm not going to use it for now
    2) I tried again to install seatools for windows and it still wouldn't install, I can't
understand why this won't install, any suggestion?

I wouldn't use it at all, by all means disable it but if you're confident enough then take it out your system and bin it.

Sorry no Idea, have you tried seagate support?

Note, even if you get seatools to install it's unlikely to help with your Quantum drive.

Ok thanks. Another thing I'm sure you're familiar with. I get a message when i log on, "the system could not log you on. Make sure your use name and domain are correct. Then I just click OK and then user. I went to the control panel and it shows no password.
How do I get rid of this message. I don't need a password, I just want it to start up without log on. I can post this in the XP section if you want

Fair enough, read this and if that doesn't help take it to the XP board.
