    On my wife's computer, I cannot get any views that show mail. I click on VIEW and no choices change the view. I downloaded a new TBird and installed it --- no change

    When you open TB what do you see for the layout?

    I have the folders for my 3 accounts plus my GMail account and my local folders on the left pane and if I have mail, they appear in the right pane if I highlight the in box.

    I do not use a preview pane.

    I think jpChris is looking at Seamonkey.

    Hi Bmoore1129,

    Yes, it's SM. But Jim had a screenshot of his FireFox and across the top is the toolbar.

    Oops, scratch that. I just looked again and there's no toolbar. Is the wrench supposed to be it? Or are FF,TB, and SM that dissimilar?

    (I think I'll sign-off now) :eek:

    Of course, FF, TB and SM are dissimilar, for good reasons. Firefox is a browser, Thunderbird is mail only, while Seamonkey is both. And, the browser part comes up by default. But, if the Mail part is brought up, does it not look different from the Browser part?
    However, I have no idea what is tenbob's issue. My TB looks like Bmoore1129.

    I have a screen shot of her screen with the error problem. but I don't know how to attach it here. Is it possible.

    Anyway, I will type the stuff here and hope it helps
    ============================================

    Thunderbird Mail - Local Folders

    View settings for the account

    Create a new account

    advanced Features

    Search Messages

    Manage Message filters

    ===================================

    And that is all I can get
    :confused::(

    That is what I get in the right pane if my Local Folders in the left pane is highlighted.

    Is Local folders the only thing you have in the left pane? Maybe I should ask if you have a left pane?

    If you have no left pane, then under view>Folders put a bullet beside All.

    If you do not use named accounts, then you should have an inbox under the local folders in the left pane.

    If Global settings are accepted what tenbob describes would happen.
    I am not sure if everything would be restored to normal, but clicking on the Advanced button allows to make changes.

    I see what you mean when I checked MY installation but HER screen doesn't show that panel at all therefore, NO ADVANCED BUTTON.

    Isn't there a BBS like this for just Mozilla. I appreciate all the replies here but in a Mozilla BBS there would be more users

    I doubt that a newsgroup which you mention, even, exists. These days everything from Netscape, Mozilla, and the current Seamonkey, Firefox and Thunderbird are in a single newsgroup. I, personally, use Thunderbird as default mail, but, also use other related programs. I will try again, because I think that you are looking in one place, and I am referring about another. Sorry, I was not more specific. Look at Tools|Account Settings|accountname|Server settings. The Advanced button is on the bottom right. After pressing that button, you should see three choices. I, and most likely Bmoore1152 have the top choice selected. You, most likely, have the middle one. Your message #7 does not describe the View button, but something entirely different. Our settings would not have Thunderbird-Local folders, unless the settings would be to send everything in one place, i.e. Global settings. Not sure if the selection of the top button would cure all.
