Hi All... what did i do? We had one user account on start page - just Administrator. We wanted to create a new user and went through the steps. Now we have the new user and a guest. The new user is now the Administrator and our files are gone. All of our programs are there, but our documents, videos and pictures are all gone. We checked under the new user/admin and also under the guest. Nothing. In Control Panel-User Accounts a 3rd account shows up - ASP.NET Machine A... , but we did not create this and I don't remember it being there before this whole mess started. Any help would be appreciated. We are desperate to at least get our pics/videos.

    Hi

Have you tried going to my computer then, C:\Documents and settings\ (the account name) and seeing if you can get your documents then?

    I hope this helps

Hi whatdidido. Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Chances are you were using the built in administrator account to put your documents on. When you created a new user account the administrator account no longer showed up on the log on screen.

Are you running Windows XP Home Edition or Professional? If you are running Windows XP Professional then when you are at the log on screen with the user accounts press CTRL ALT Delete twice on the keyboard. This will bring up the classic log on screen. Type administrator and whatever password you had for it and press enter. That administrator account should load and your documents should be there.

If you are running Windows XP Home Edition then press F8 on start up and select Safe Mode. When the computer boots up into safe mode you should see the built in administrator account. Click it and it will load. Let me know if that helps.
