    Hi Guys and Gals:)

My brothers laptop (XP Home) stopped booting one day, so he tried, last know config, then safe mode and they wouldnt boot then he done a non destructive restore (From Compaq Partition) and it still wouldnt boot, to cut a long story short i booted with The UBCD, done chkdsk and other various tools. It then booted and started the non destructive restore automatically (which was odd) and then booted to windows....fantastic. After the restore, all his files were still there (there were a lot of music). But these files/folders cannot be accessed at all. His new account is set to admin, so I would of thought i could access these files. I have tried a app called unlocker, but that found nothing locked. I have searched & searched but have come up dry.

    Does anyone have any ideas??

I have sinced kicked his butt for not doing backups, cause he has a 500gb external harddrive. But have now scheduled backups for him everyday.

    Thanks for your time

    Matt
