    Good day everyone,

    I have an Acer extensa 4620 - 2.2GH, 4GB RAM... etc. and vista ultimate installed.

    I want to install (for the sake of curiosity) Windows 7 Ultimate;
    Before I go forward, I'd like to know if I need to download windows 7 compatible drivers from somewhere since Acer does not provide any!

    Please advise.

    Thank you

    Should be no need - I installed 7 as a dual boot with Vista Business with no issues.

    There are unlikely to be any specific Win 7 drivers around, but as it is basically Vista SP2 Vista drivers should work OK.

    Hi Joe,
    Shouldn't be any problem if most of your kit is fairly modern. I installed 7 on an Acer laptop, and it found my radio link, went on line during the first boot after installing, and downloaded drivers for my two Canon printers without any prompting.

    I have installed it on my Abit in9-32x-max-wi-fi but I need ethernet drivers etc. I therefore cannot use it. Any ideas?, it's a 680 chipset but I cant seem to find anywhere to download them,,,

    You have to find out the maker of your ethernet interface - try Atheros - Via, etc. It should have nothing to do with your 680 chipset.

    awkward - I had a similar issue. I ended up buying a new card to get the drivers.

    Abit has Vista Drivers, try these, most of the time those will work.

    I have tried the Vista drivers but with no luck. This is with windows 7 64 bit, perhaps I should try the 32 bit version,,,

    It could help (64 bit drivers are more stricktly policed by the OS).
