Hi everyone, I am newbie here.

    I have a question.

I have a program which is when it’s running it will appears in full screen.

The question is, can I make it runs in a frame so that I can maximize/minimize it easily?

    Thanks in advance

Not that I'm aware of but two Ideas spring to mind...

A virtual desktop manager, this gives you multiple desktops which you can switch between, your app will still be full screen but a hotkey combination (eg Alt-F1) would allow you to switch to another desktop. Powertoys for XP has one available

    2) A virtual Machine, this effectively creates a second PC running inside XP (from BIOS startup to shutdown), I'd think this is probably overkill for your requirements.

Alt-Tab should do the trick in giving the option to switch from that program to another already running.

Some programs have setting options or built in shortcut/ hotkeys that can control this. Some require editing an *.ini file. Perhaps it would help to know what this application is and if it has readme.txt which may include instructions on such.

For example I have an application that when I hit keycombo of alt+enter it will switch from full screen to windowed. Other apps if double clicked on will switch from full to windowed. Care to share the name of the application?

That’s the main problem, it can’t be switched to another program using alt + tab.

So, whenever I would like to go to another application, I should turn my program off by pressing ctrl + alt + del.

Perhaps as Ann requested you could let us know the name of the program?

    Waiting for the name.....

but another possibility is hitting your win key on the keyboard (key with the flag on it). This, depending on the app, will collapse it to the taskbar and allow access to other applications. If it isn't fussy it can be maximized once again with no loss.

The program is Final Fantasy 8 game.

The win key on my keyboard isn't working too.

I see it's a Play Station game adapterd for Windows in 2000 - unless there is an option in the game setup to run in a window I would suspect that it is coded to run full screen. Without seeing I guess it is DOS based and is running over/under Windows rather than in Windows.

Found some references in these links to a few patches, a couple of apps and some ideas. You will have to do the homework here and find one that works for you. If found please update post and share it.

final fanasty8 windowed mode google web search

    googled group searched

Later, as time permits, I will dig through my own games and see if I have this particular version of final fantasy and will give this my own shot. Keep watching post for update.....:)
