    I not sure if I 'm posting this in the correct place, but here goes.

    Whenever I have a CLEAR Address Bar or URL Bar--and I go to type in an address ==the minute I type the first letter of the address I want, a whole SCROLL DOWN list of past sites that I have been to opens up down below the address bar.

    I have tried everything I can think of to eliminate the scroll down listings but no luck.
    Can anyone out there shed some light on this.

    Thanks
    Paul

    Auto Complete
    --------------------------------------------------
    Turning off AutoComplete completely
    If you don't like seeing your user names, passwords, and other information sitting in drop-down windows, tell Windows to stop by doing this:

    1. Open Internet Explorer.
    2. Choose Internet Options from the Tools menu.
    3. Click the Content tab.
    4. Click the AutoComplete button.
    5. Click to remove checkmarks from these items:

    * Web addresses
    * Forms
    * User names and passwords on forms
    * Prompt me to save passwords

    6. Click the Clear Forms button.
    7. Click the Clear Passwords button.
    8. Click OK.

  3. to hide this advert.

    Just to add there is also a check box under IE Options > Advanced options under Browsing for In-Line Auto-Complete.

    Verify that this is unchecked.

    Thanks Jephree, I found the box and unchecked it---the scroll down menu under the "Address Bar" has now disappeared.

    If you want to edit that list easily, and keep some of them, or all of them, or none of them, or restore the list from a previously saved version, you can get EditURLs which as a nice freeware that does that very well.

    I find it handy to keep certain ones since they're more accessible than the Favorites folder items.
