Win XP 4 GB RAM shows 3.24 GB

    I use Win XP Pro
    H/W - Intel M/B
    Processor - Core 2 quad
    RAM - 4 GB (2GB x 2)

    Right click , Properties on my computer shows only 3.24 GB of RAM. Is this by default or is there any settings for system to detect complete 4 GB.

    XP 32bit can only access 4GB memory space (RAM+ROM), most is available as RAM but some will be claimed by various addons, graphic controllers etc. There's not a lot you can do about it.

    Reading about win XP, i had understood that it supports 4 GB RAM. After reading your reply, i got it clear.. Thanq.

    Just remember you're dealing with the company that said no one would ever need more than 640K of memory ;)

    Very intelligent :). I have been grappling with this problem for long & still don't quite understand it. On some computers it shows 4.0 GB, on others it shows some figure between 3 - 4 GB. There is no method to madness.
