Laptop is a Acer Aspire 5570-2758 just installed windows XP sp2.
alright, i plan on giving this laptop to my mom once i got a working hard drive for it. my brothers friend tried to format it because it had blue screen. he said there were problems formatting and that it was probably the hard drive, so i put it in the closet for a couple months. bored the other day I took it out to try to format it myself, problems like my brothers friend said occured, then i put back the original RAM and tadah it worked like a charm. the RAM that my brother had given me was faulty. Anyways to the cut the story short THE DRIVERS FOR THE LAPTOP ARE DRIVING ME INSANE.

There are so many drivers i've been trying ALL day to find drivers and to no avail. I don't know exactly what drivers i need and i cant even connect to the internet. i've gotten drivers from acer site and euro and googling, and the internet still wont work, neither wireless or direct ethernet connection...? help!! its so much easier to get drivers for a desktop than a laptop..... such a hassle. can anybody point me in the right direction, because if i can get internet onto the laptop it'd be like heavin getting other needed drivers.
ANYBODY WHO HELPS ME... THANK YOU@@!!

    http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5500.html

The above site has plenty of drivers for it. I put two links as they list a 5500 and a 5500Z. The second link you can choose from.
But your problem is which LAN driver is yours.
What you need is System Info for Windows.

Get the stand alone version, as you can burn it to a CD and it will run without being installed.
Install the chipset driver first, else all the others will be problems.

I bet you need to get such a CD from Acer. Else burn the downloaded files to a CD and use "Autorun.inf Editor for Autoplay" from http://autorun.moonvalley.com/ to set the CD to run automatically.

You should have used the title "Drivers driving me crazy" :)

Manufacturers tend to include every possible driver you could use with the hardware that they could sell you for that product.

Get the manual/User Guide for your model and start searching there
    http://support.acer-euro.com/documents/manuals.html

If you have given up, go to the Contact Acer link. (You may want to use the Email Support Request first, explain your situation.)

What is causing your problem with the drivers? (Although they drive me crazy as well :)) Look in Device Manager for what may not be working correctly.

    Matt
