    Hi need some advice please
few days ago my computer stopped working telling me some error codes for a missing dll file. Can't log on to my computer at all so tried last known configuration but didn't work, so i tried to repair windows from my disc but it only gets so far, when it comes to the point of copying files it is saying files cannot be found please put your disc in hard drive which it already is or please enter location of files.
Anyone know what i have done wrong it just keeps stopping at that point and won't let me go any further or even go back to the start.
I'm not the greatest at computers so will i be better leaving it in to get fixed and do you think it will be a big job and cost a lot.

Sorry i know this is long and probably doesn't make much sense but any help would be great.

Thanks in advance for your help
    irishchick:)

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

Have you checked the install CD for scratches, greasy fingerprints, etc - it sounds on the surface to be down to a faulty CD.

I agree with caller number one
a cd can be cleaned gently with soap and water
dry with a clean cloth not a harsh paper towel which may scratch it
If the media is a dvd- they scratch a lot easier so be careful

:D Thanks to all who posted a reply i had to end up leaving it in to the shop to get fixed. Lost over 2000 photo's which i'm gutted at  But that will remind me in future not to be so lazy and put them all onto disc's from now on.
Great site no doubt i will be sticking around ;)

Sorry to hear of the loss :( Backup, backup and backup - hard drives can fail at any time. let alone operating system problems.
