I'm using a microsoft wireless comfort keyboard 1.0A. The ten keypad will not change to type in numbers only the functions of each button will work. num lock will not do anything. The wireless optical mouse 2.0 just quit working also so maybe it's just worn out. Not sure what might be happening.

    Have you activated mousekeys?

    To check/disable...

    Go to Control Panel
    Open Accessibility Options
    Select Mouse Tab
    Uncheck Use MouseKeys.

Done as in mousekeys is enabled or done as in disabling it worked?

Please try to be a little more verbose with your posts, we're not mind readers.

If mousekeys is enabled try disabling it for testing (not easy I know), perhaps changing the batteries in your mouse would help or use a different mouse?

Sorry, the box is unchecked there I left it unchecked. I have tried using another wireless mouse that has a bad left click button it seems to work alright.

    OK, thanks for the clarification.

    Are you happy using regedit?

    If so try this
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\
    Control Panel\
    Keyboard\

Check if the InitialKeyboardIndicators key has a value of 1, change it to 0 or 2 if it does.

0 - Numlock is initially off
    1 - Numlock is disabled
2 - Numlock is initially on.

Be careful using regedit backup your registry first and don't change anything unless you know exactly what it is.

Well other than updating your keyboard drivers I'm out of ideas.

Post back with your results, someone else may be able to assist if the drivers fail.

Thanks for your help. I reinstalled the intellipoint and intellitype earlier today. I'm probably out of luck.

    Ok, final suggestions from me.

Try connecting through another USB port, this may force a reinstall of drivers.

Try creating another user and see if the problem persists with that user.

Finally and I have to admit this is a long shot but is there a setting in your BIOS to disable numlock (not to be confused with Numlock On/Off at startup).
