You will probably need to find XP drivers for your crystal sound fusion - if they are available.

Aside: Your processor is only just fast enough to run Windows XP, so don't expect the system to be very fast. The RAM is more than basic (it will run on 128MB), but if you overload it, the system will slow down. You upgraded? If you bring across a lot of background software from the Win 98 system, that could also bog the system down. With modest hardware, I suggest that you would be better off formatting the drive and installing Win XP as a fresh install.

    That said...:)

Go to the IBM or Lenovo Support website
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/homeLenovo.do
    Find your product number
Finding my product number (machine type / model or part number) and serial number
and check if Windows XP drivers are offered.

It might be a pre-Win XP system, IBM might only offer Win 98 or Win 2000 drivers. You might then need to find drivers at the hardware manufacturer's website. Let me/us know if you want help.

Another option you could take a look at is to check to see if the service for windows audio is set to automatic. This caused me a problem when I got a virus that shut my sound off and when I got rid of the virus my sound didn't come back until I checked the service area and found it was set on manual.

Go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services and scroll through the list until you find Windows Audio then, right click on it and select Properties. Then where it say Startup Type see if the drop down menu is set to Automatic. If not, then set it on that. Also see if the service is running or stopped. If it's stopped then of course start it up again by pressing the start button. After you're done click Apply or OK to exit out, then re-boot and see if the sound comes back. :)
