    Dears,

I am using MS office 2003.

In ms word whenever i complete a paragragh, show/hide icon appears at the end of finished paragraph and on the beginning of the new paragraph.

The same thing continues whenever i type. Though such icon do not appear
    on printed copy.

Any way to get rid of it?

    Regards,
    Gulam Dastgir

    Hi dastgr,
Are you talking about the Formating marks:
    http://www.officearticles.com/word/show-hide_button_in_microsoft_word.htm

Should be a button icon, next to the document view size (zoom) drop down, shown as in the picture from the site above. Just hit it
and Formating marks will be hidden.
Note* That's provided you have the Standard toolbar set to show.

If this does not take care it you may have set an option for certain Formating marks to always show. From your Tools>options>cutomize>view tab check to see if you have any of the Formating options checked to always show, in this case it would be called "paragraph marks ".

    Hey goddez1,

Thanks for your help. Yeah, they were the paragraph marks and now got rid of.
But now there is another problem is appearing. At the start and end of the page watermark type squares are visible at the both side of the paper.
    What are these? Please help.

    Regards,
    Gulam Dastgir

    Hi Dastgir...

Does it look like the pic attachment below? I know it's Word 2007...it's just an example. If so that is called "Text boundaries "...just remove the checkmark and they're gone...

    - Open Word
    - Click on Tools and select Options from drop down
    - In Options select the View tab
    - Under the "Print and Web Layout options" remove the checkmark on "Text boundaries "

    Dear dobhar,

No, its not like that. From remote these appears like an embedded squire,
while when i observed these closely, then, actually these are two lines right angled to each other and the horizontal ones are opposite to each other,

Those look like Margin tabs. See how they correspond to the darker spots on your ruler.

    Tools>options>view tab>print and web layout>uncheck "Text boundries "

    Dear Goddez1,

Hey these are margin tabs. These are responding to horizontal as well as vertical margin change. But, they are still persisting after unchecking the
    advised option button.

Still looking for a bug but this is what I have so far:

Margin marks or crop marks appear on each corner of the page when you open a document in Word :
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=839371

    -----------------------

I've got to wonder if you have installed any service paq updates to office 2003. While I'm not sure, I would think any update to office would have taken care of this and, as yet, undiscovered bugs.

NOTE* If not patched and considering it, please do study ups on the best and safest ways to update such a major and important application/suite.

OK. Now please guide me what does different shapes of tab button on ruler signifies.

NO- WindowsBBS exists to help people with genuine problems with the Windows Operating Systems and associated software - we are not here to provide step-by-step instruction in the use of specific software. As volunteers our time is freely given, but limited, and is best spent helping people with problems that affect the smooth running of their computers.

If you want to learn how to use Word 2003 I suggest you refer to the Help file, experiment, purchase a book on Word or Google for answers as we do.

    See if this helps:

Measure up with the horizontal ruler: Set margins, indents, and tabs:

    page 98

    Sorry Pete,

As I already had these links in my History, I saw no harm in including these links. I guess my "beatin' stick is nerf padded....:)
