Mozilla has released the first milestone version of the Pheonix browser. This is a redesigned version of Mozilla that is supposed to be faster and leaner than the current versions.

This is early release software, and as such has some bugs in it.

If you are interested in taking a look at it, head over to http://www.mozilla.org/projects/phoenix/phoenix-release-notes.html.

Please keep in mind that this is early release and that all features have not been implemented. Some of the prefs are not currently available through the menus is one of the biggys.

So far, it does seem to be leaner and faster than the previous releases, but only time will tell if it is stable.

I forgot to mention that this is a standalone version and includes nothing at this time other than the browser itself. No email, newsgroups or composer.

I haven't had trouble with any of the nightly releases, but I haven't tried the 0.1 release yet. However, I wouldn't recommend Phoenix to anyone until development is a bit further allong. ;)
