DELL Desktop Dimension 4700 [chkdsk /r fails to recover]

    hi ppl,
    i had this dell for 3 year .... and today wasnt my lucky day........ i turned on my pc and after 4 hour , i came to work on my dell , it became slower and slower.......so i turned it off and restarted it ,then it gave me blue screen to do some CHKDSK to my drive......... than restarted it again... and ooopps c000135 -winsrv not found..........what the hell is this????????

    no problem ....gone to reboot in safe mode.......ffffff blue screen with same notice.....

    no problem..... gone to last known working configuration.........ffffff blue screen with same notice.....

    did a disk diagnostic ....and tatatatata fail error code 7........
    so what should i do????? is that an RIP for the drive???????

    right now iam doing repair window using my xp hom edition cd.....hope it work..... fingers crossed
    any advice????????????????????????

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

    It seems fairly clear that your drive has failed .....
    there should be an explanation of code 7 accompanying the disk diagnostic software.

    There is no explanation for this error code7.....

    These messages ......
    suggest to me that the hard drive has failed.

    If you have data on the drive which you have not backed up it may be possible to recover it if the drive is connected to another computer as a slave and is recognised by that computer.

    Your options are twofold ....

    You can try a clean install of XP with format which may be successful though I rather doubt it as the repair failed.

    Replace the hard drive.

    Try using native disk tools instead of Dells tools. Not knowing which manufactures drive is in your system:

    ExcelStore

    Fujitsu

    Hitachi/IBM

    Samsung

    Seagate, Maxtor, Quantum

    Western Digital


    According to a Dell technician, these are the error codes:
