I am having the same problem. It started 2 weeks ago. I thought it might be because i use a wireless USB adapter from linksys. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver for that and it did not help.

Then MSFT error reporting suggested iomega driver so i downloaded the supposed fix and installed it. Not working so i have enabled driver verifier.

I have had iomega for a few years with no problems. Also, I installed XP service pack 3 and that did'nt do it.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    Automatic restarts

Had a similar problem with automatic restarts. Problem now fixed but here's the story.

Restarts happened almost as soon as one went to one's desktop. A Windows XP Error Message appeared indicating the error had been caused by IOMEGA corrupting the Memory Pool. We had had an IOMEGA device on the system some years ago but it and its software had been removed. It was no longer listed in the Control Panel ADD or Delete, however there was an IOMEGA folder in the MyComputer\Program files. Tried to remove it but system would not allow me to do that. Got no joy from either Microsoft or IOMEGA. Put that aside while waiting for Microsoft or IOMEGA to provide a fix.
    ZZZZzzzz....

Meanwhile, I did the classic thing, i.e., backed out of any applications that had been installed since system began to be unstable. It had been acting up even prior to the automatic restartes. Missery continued.

Turned to hardware changes, which had been to increase memory to 2 Gigs. Techy, who did the install, computer engineering student son of friend, told me to turn off the automatic restart. When I did that I got a BSoD with PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED MEMORY. It looked like WIndows couldn't handle 2Gigs although the specs said that it could. He reduced memory to 1 Gig, even going back to starting point of initial memory. now fault was random. We had a few side trips in going down this rabbit hole; amusing but wasteful.

Finnaly I agreed to his initial advice which was to REBUILD THE SYSTEM. His experience was that, over time, adding and deleating applications etc. debri accumulates in the Registry and other delicate places and the old dear, Windows, begins to creak and become cranky.

Now, obviously, I have the computer back. No more automatic Restarts. No BSoD. No IOMEGA.

I'd resisted the rebuild because I had lost the CD for one application (Quicken by Intuit). Ous version was 2000. Current version can't handle the old file formats and there was no conversion routine. I've asked them again and they now say that there is a file conversion routine available with the purchase of a new version. Incidentally we looked at the reloaded Quicken and it seems to be working. Techy looked at the program and said to was very simple with few registry references. Hence we may be able to limp along for a whille till we buy a current version.

Don't know if this story is any value other than it's easy to follow true but wrong clues.

I disabled the startup of the Iomega.sys using MSconfig, then uninstalled Turbotax after I used a system restore to a time before the Turbotax install. Everything worked fine, no restarting. I then reinstalled Turbotax and have not had any problems. There is something about Iomega.sys that seems to cause this problem when other programs are installed. I do not know what it is, but I seemed to have solved my problem for now. Thanks for your help.
