I've found a few queries on this but no answer. Using RC1 (OK - the others on the web were beta1/2) if you go into explorer view in SharePoint you get an error stating that you need IE5 or above. Going into compatibility mode makes no difference. You'd have though MS would get it working with one of their own products....

    Any thoughts?

Maybe when they're done testing and building IE8 it'll work;)

I love the way you have to be running IE in a non-domain environment to get support!!!

Especially as our SharePoint servers are in a domain, oh well....

Oh - and (Steve Jones) I'd have expected RC1 to be pretty much feature complete - especially with an MS product. IBM's site was rubbish with Beta 1 and 2 but now seems ok.

A small update - IE8 in Win7 eventually spawns another window which shows explorer view. IE8 on XP still doesn't work.

    Hi
I have Windows XP with IE8 and we use WSS2.0 on Windows 2003 and the Explorer view wasn't working.

I fixed it by setting and starting the Webclient service.

I cannot take credit for this as I found it on another forum but it worked for me.
    Hope this helps
